SHINE, which was published in November, is now in its fourth printing. Taylor, my daughter, just celebrated her third birthday. This countdown of recent events has kept me busy and fulfilled, but it has also brought home for me how time truly does fly and how change is so ever certain.

Time in each day is the one finite thing we all have the exact same amount of. Change in each day is the one infinite thing we all deal totally different with. In essence, each day we all have the same amount of time to do different things. What we choose to do and in what priority we elect to do them is directly related to our core beliefs and values. What are your core beliefs and values? Are they Common and New or Royal and Ancient?

Write down three of your most basic beliefs and values. Read them out loud and ask yourself what have you done today to evidence them to others and how have you shown your appreciation for them. As my dear friend and Roots author, Alex Haley, would always beam, "Find the good and praise it."
